AS the season starts to draw to a close for Crediton Youth FC sides it was a mixed week of results.
Tuesday night (May 7) saw the Boys U15’s take on Twyford Spartans at Lords Meadow.
With a large crowd behind them they went in 1-0 up at the break through a Rhys Ebdy goal.
Needing maximum points in their quest for the league title, things looked to be going their way in a very even second half. Crediton just could not get the vital second goal and the inevitable happened and Twyford drew level late on.
With Alphington gaining maximum points in their last game it sees them take the title and Crediton taking the runners-up spot.
Although disappointed, the Crediton lads should be proud of their achievement and the heavy end of season fixture schedule did little to help their title push.
The Boys U16’s concluded their season with a double header against Culm Valley at Lords Meadow. The evening saw Culm Valley win both games and secure the league title.
The Boys U13’s concluded their season with two home fixtures. The bottom of the table home clash with Culm Sampford saw the guests narrowly win 3-2. Ethan Moore and George Strawson getting the Creddy goals.
Their final game against West Exe saw another high scoring thriller as they edged out their guests 7-6. George Strawson led the scoring with four, Ethan Moore with two and Will Hopkins got the other goal.
West Exe Warriors were the U12’s opponents at Lords Meadow and they went away 4-2 winners. Charlie Williams and Joshua Stansfield got the home side goals in their final league game.
The U11’s travelled to Culm Sampford. It was smiles all around for them as they finished with another win maintaining their unbeaten league campaign. Amongst the goal scorers were Jacob Sweeney, Luke Beetlestone and Will Manns.
It was a proud moment for Crediton Youth as three of its players Amber Zhang, Amy Lockyer and Chloe Curtis represented Devon Schools FA in the Girls U14’s County Cup Final at Stoke City’s ground against Lancashire on Saturday evening. Despite putting in a tremendous performance the Devon side eventually lost out on penalties.
Sunday saw the U13 girls at home against Moors Youth. They ran out comfortable winners with Ellen Beswick, Eve Broome, Gracie Pugsley, Lexi Mullen and Tommasina Miali all amongst the goals.
The final game of the weekend saw the Boys U18’s make the short journey to Elmore. They returned with a 4-2 victory courtesy of a Harry Welsh hat-trick and a Will Bragg goal.
