THE seniors at Downes Crediton Golf Club played an individual medal from the white tees on Monday, July 4, which saw some fine scores posted.
Best score of the day went to Tom Petiffer with a tremendous five under par nett 65. This also gave Tom victory in Division Two by a single stroke over Steve Gidley (nett 66) with Danny Enright, third posting a nett 70.
Victory in Division One went to Alan Draper with a nett 67 with Brian Kelly second on nett 68 and Quinn Payne-Cook following on in third with nett 69.
Dave Hill took victory in the Mid Week Stableford, on Wednesday, July 6, scoring 39 points. A point further back in second place was Paul Sandercock (38) with Jason Arnold third scoring 37 points.
Ros McIntyre dominated the County Stableford Seven and Grandma’s Cup, played on Thursday, July 7, scoring a wonderful 42 points. This also gave Ros victory in the Bronze Two Division by five points from Sue Bond and Annet Coles both scoring 37.
Stacey Ford won the Silver Division with 37 points whilst Jo Coe took top spot in the Bronze One Division also with 37 points.
CAPTAIN’S DAY
Saturday, July 9 saw Downes members play in the Captain’s Day Competition and raise money for the Captain’s Charity, the Devon Freewheelers.
The best score of the day and overall victory went to Mike Napper, Paul Gidley and Keith Sprague with a tremendous 15 under par 91 points.
This also gave the trio victory in the men’s section by six points over Lee Perrott, Ali Sawyer and John Dean (85 points). Mark Ainscough, Billy Atkins And Dave MacPherson followed on in third place posting 79 points.
Winning the mixed section, scoring a very impressive 80 points, were Betty Willey, Lyn Parry and Alan Willey with the team of Stacey Ford, Fran Shrubsole and Tony Sykes second with 76.
There were numerous nearest the pin and longest drive prizes put up by Captain, David Taylor, for members to win and with the course in superb condition a great day was had by all whilst raising money for the chosen charity.
