THE triumphant Exeter City Women’s team will be given a Civic Reception at Exeter’s historic Guildhall to celebrate the team’s amazing success this season.
The team became the FA Women’s National League Division One South West Champions at the beginning of May following a brilliant season for the Grecians.
It meant Exeter City Women secured promotion to the third tier of women’s football for the first time in the club’s history.
To recognise the achievement on behalf of the city, players and staff from Exeter City Women have been invited to take part in a Victory Reception at the Guildhall, hosted by the Lord Mayor of Exeter Cllr Kevin Mitchell, on Thursday, June 20, at 6pm.
Council Leader Phil Bialyk said: “Winning the league is a fantastic achievement by Exeter City Women’s team and the whole city is rightly very proud of what they achieved.
“Sport is very important to our city. Preparation is well underway for the Women’s Rugby World Cup next year, which will feature games at Sandy Park, and aims to boost participation in sport for women and girls in particular.
“The success of Exeter City’s women’s team will undoubtedly do the same, and I am so pleased to celebrate their amazing achievement.”
