EXETER City FC has decided to cap the cost of tickets for its upcoming FA Cup clash against Nottingham Forest at standard league match prices.

The club said the gesture “reflects its supporter-ownership ethos” and “underscores the club’s commitment to ensuring football remains accessible to its dedicated fans”.

The fourth-round clash will take place at St James Park in the city on Tuesday, February 11.

“This decision is to reward our incredible supporters’ commitment and enthusiasm not only this season but also during our fantastic history,” Exeter City FC and Exeter City Supporters’ Trust Chair Nick Hawker said.

“Being supporter-owned, the club takes pride in the role played within the local community.

“Football must be for everyone, and we are committed to ensuring as many fans as possible can join us for this special occasion.

“The financial benefit of the cup run and the match being selected for TV means we can keep prices locked and ensure it is accessible to our wide fan base.

“This is the first time in 44 years that City have qualified for the fourth-round of the FA Cup, and this tie demonstrates the journey we have been on as a club and community.”

The FA Cup was first played in 1871/72 and is the oldest competition of its kind in the world.

The knockout tournament has 12 randomly drawn rounds, after which come the semi-finals and final.

The FA Cup gives small clubs a chance to play bigger sides and potentially pull off “giant-killing” wins.

At the time of writing, Nottingham Forest is third in the Premier League behind Liverpool and Arsenal. Exeter City is in 17th place in League One.

Founded in 1901, Exeter City FC is owned by its fans in the form of the Exeter City Supporters' Trust.
