LAST weekend, September 7 and 8, saw many Crediton Youth FC sides start the new season.

It was a great start for the U16’s at home to Central Hawks. Luke Cassar, Rhys Ebdy, Zack Mildon, Ollie Baker, Joe Butland, Dan Burgess and George Blackburn all amongst the goals in a rather one sided affair.

The U14’s were away at Starcross Dons and they started life back in Division Two with a 3-1 victory.

Their goals came from Daniel Cavanagh, Will Hopkins and Logan Wadey on his debut.

Both the U11’s and 12’s had home friendlies.  The 12’s entertained a very useful Alphington side and lost out to the Exeter side.

Heavitree were the U11’s guests as they were edged out of a 10-goal thriller.

Sunday saw the U18’s start their league season away at Whipton Youth.

They showed great character to recover from going 2-0 down to run out 3-2 winners.

Alex Dredge with a penalty and goals from Rhys Ebdy and Stan Gilbert sealed the result.

It was also the start of the Devon Girls league season.

Both the U16’s and 14’s had a very tough start to the season as they both hosted sides from Central Youth and tasted heavy defeats.

But it was a great start to season for the U12 Youth who returned from Central Wild Cats with all three points.

Merryn Eatherley led the scoring for them, with Izzy Steward, Mia Liebenberg White, Emily Walshe and Freya Chesney also amongst the goal scorers.

Both U10 girls sides had a fine morning as they entertained sides from Hatherleigh and Feniton.

The U8 girls also continued their footballing journey as they hosted Cullompton girls.
