THE first internal competition of the season took place on May bank holiday Monday afternoon.
Thirty members entered the Den Ford Triples. This is a competition where a mixed team of three play three different opponents over seven ends.
On the day every pairing of three won at least one of their three mini games but only two of the 10 teams remained undefeated. Runners up were Carol Haywood, Mike Canning and John Harry.
The day’s winners were Loraine Woods, Phil Milford and Marilyn Carpenter.
After the bowling everyone enjoyed a bring-and-share tea and some refreshment from the bar. Thanks was given to the organiser of the day, Mark Theedom.
It’s lovely to see so many people watching our matches but please do not be shy in coming forward to try playing. There are many taster sessions for both young and old to try their hand.
During the week the friendly side had victories against Wellington, Combe Martin and Barnstaple United Services.
The Over 60s A team drew 4-4 at Exonia, while the B team defeated Madeira 6-2 and the C team defeated Chagford 8-0.
The EDL A team won 9-1 at Okehampton and although the B team fixture was cancelled the C team were 8-2 winners at Heavitree.
There are a lot of fixtures being played away from home this week but there will still be plenty going on for you to enjoy.
