THE first of this year’s Downes Crediton Festival Week events saw the Senior’s play a pairs better ball open on Monday, September 5.
Victorious were the home club duo of Rick Eidam and Nick Bromell scoring a superb score of 47 points.
Second place went to Brian Williams and Alun Lewis also of Downes Crediton who scored 45 points.
The leading away pair was Ian and Craig McGown from Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club who scored 42 points.
Bob Pym took this week Midweek Stableford on Wednesday, September 7 with a score of 41 points.
Thursday, September 8, saw members and visitors play the Norman Sutton Memorial Open, a four player team, two scores to count stableford.
The winning quartet were Leigh Davis, Robert Ashman, Will Ashman and Matt Sercombe who scored a nett 125 (17 under) with second place going to the team of Martin Garsney, Alan Hatherly, Neil Wood and Martin Storey who scored a nett 127 (15 under).
Following in third place were Adam Hull, Ken Bones, Peter Blinkhorn and Rob Whittleston who scored a nett 128 (14 under).
The Texas Scramble Open, held on Friday, September 9, was won by the trio of Nick Staddon, Martin Storey and Angela Storey with a score of nett 56 (14 under) one shot clear of second placed Howard Tubbs, Stephan Yates and Leigh Davis who scored a nett 57 (13 under).
The Creedy Cup, an individual stableford played on Saturday, September 10, was won by Bradley Newberry from Tiverton Golf Club who scored a fantastic 42 points, a single point clear of second placed Downes member Gerry Tomlinson (41 points).
The best scratch score of the day was won by Rodin Mackay posting 35 points whilst the best away scratch and handicap prizes went to father and son duo Gareth and Eddy Williams from Farnham Golf Club.
The final Festival Week Open was a mixed team event on Sunday, September 11, which saw Lyn Hazelton, Joe Hull, Gary Price and Lyn Parry scoop the top prize scoring 84 points.
The quartet of Steve Gidley, Ying Wong, Rebecca Aven and Duane Greenslade (83pts) followed in second with Joyce Gilg, Andrew Gilg, June Mitchell and Jim Dunlop (80pts) in third.
