CREDITON Youth Football Club held two end of season presentation ceremonies back-to-back at Crediton Football Club.
Mike Edworthy, former secretary, chaired the proceedings and explained that the format of the evening would be the U8's to U11's presentations in the first session and the U12's to U16's in the second.
He explained that the age groups would be introduced in turn and then the squad medals presented by the team managers and coaches, after which would be the presentation of awards.
The managers explained how their team had progressed during the last season before presenting the squad medals.
Mr Edworthy said the club was proud to retain its Charter Club status which means that the club achieves a level of standards as set out and monitored by the FA. He added that this standard was now a requirement of the various leagues in which the club's teams play.
Mr Edworthy said that during the year Ian Chattington had retired as chairman after a 14 year involvement with the club and Mike Langhorne had retired after six years as treasurer but had 12 years involvement with the club and thanked them both for their service.
He said that the club finances were in order thanks to organisation of the annual six-a-side tournament. The success of the tournament and the club was put down to the help of club members, parent helpers and volunteers.
He appealed for helpers to run the age group teams as well as the club and become committee members.
Mr Edworthy said that the tournament, which was played on 13 pitches, attracted 148 teams last year, by far the biggest tournament it had organised.
Volunteers, he added, were currently needed for the forthcoming tournament.
He thanked all the managers and coaches from the various teams, the new treasurer Stuart Maule, Karen Maule who stepped in as secretary and Sally-Anne Daniel the tournament programme officer who also helps with catering, the tuck shop and in other areas.
He also thanked Karen Stevens for her organisation of the catering and presented flowers to both Sally-Anne and Karen.
Thanks were also expressed to Graham Avery, chairman of the senior club for permitting use of the main pitch for games, the use of the clubhouse and changing rooms and for permitting the tournament to take place.
Clubman of the Year award went to Martin Daniel for his support for the club at all levels, above and beyond many other volunteers.
Manager of the Year award went to Ian Salter. Tributes were paid to Ian who had led his team of U16 girls to win three top titles, the County and League Cups and the League title.
