THIS coming Saturday, November 26, Crediton United are looking forward to a trip to the league leaders Okehampton Argyle for a vital game which could see United leapfrog their opponents to take the top spot in the South West Peninsula League.
Team managers Ben Watson and Jack Furzer will be looking to make amends for their extra time 3-2 defeat a month ago at Lords Meadow, Crediton.
Because the Football Association has decided to rearrange the Western League football Division’s Level Five football for next season, due to extended travel for the Western League the FA plan to amalgamate them with the South West Peninsula League (SWPL) by forming two leagues at step five level, one covering Somerset and Dorset and the other Devon and Cornwall.
At the next level, step six, there will also be three divisions, Cornwall, Devon and Somerset/Dorset.
It is planned that four teams from each of the current Western League Second Division and the East and West Divisions of the Peninsula League will be amalgamated to form the new Step Five Divisions.
Crediton United are currently one point behind Okehampton in the SWPL, and together with three or four other teams, are currently in strong positions for promotion at the end of the season.
Crediton team managers Ben and Jack would appreciate some Crediton team support so, weather permitting it would be good to see club supporters at Okehampton this coming Saturday.
Please note that kick-off time is 2.15pm at Simmons Park.
