CREDITON Youth FC were very proud on Sunday (April 23) to see their next girls team start their footballing journey as they hosted their first ever friendly fixture against Twyford Spartans.
The new U8 side becomes the seventh girls team that hasU8 been formed by the club since girls football returned to Lords Meadow in 2015.
All the girls had come through the club’s very successful Wild Cats programme, which the club runs on Friday evenings from 5pm to 6pm at Lords Meadow.
Every player did themselves really proud with some very impressive performances, in the numerous mini games that were played. Congratulations to the Twyford girls who played their part in a great morning of football.
It was a very proud moment for Sean Hartrey and his group of Wild Cats coaches to see the girls progress to structured football.
Many of the Wild Cats coaches come from the older Crediton Youth girls sides and the Crediton United ladies team.
The club also runs fun Squad Girls Sessions on a Friday evening for girls aged 12-14 years looking to give football a try.
The weekend (April 22 and 23) also saw two ex Crediton Youth FC players, Jess Sandland and Katie Grigg, be part of the Exeter City Ladies team that won the Devon County Ladies Premier Cup.
