A NEW fencing competition is coming up in Crediton this month.

Aimed at fencers of all ages, the Heart of Devon Sabre Tournament will take place on Sunday, October 27 at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre.

“Run in partnership with Devon County Fencing Union, this new sabre event welcomes fencers from a huge age range from under-10s to seasoned veterans,” Heart of Devon Swords Coach Jason Ball said.

“We also hope to make a surplus to be able to donate to Devon Air Ambulance."

The club trains in Olympic fencing on Saturdays from 12pm to 2pm.

It specialises in the sabre discipline, and its younger players dominated the 2024 junior county sabre championships. A new beginners class will start on Saturday, October 12.
