CREDITON and District Swimming Club organised a charity event on July 6 in aid of the RNLI, with the aim of swimming the distance of the English Channel between Dover and Calais, some 22 miles, across a two-hour swimming session!
A total of 40 members of the swimming club took part, across all ages and in the end a total distance of 42 miles was swum, which is a massive achievement in only two hours!
As a thank you for their amazing efforts, the club Chairman Paul Saunders organised a barbecue once everybody had swum their session and in addition every swimmer was presented with a commemorative t-shirt kindly sponsored by Sands Consultants Civil and Structural Engineers.
Not only did the talented team of swimmers manage 42 miles, but they raised £750 for the RNLI!
It was reported to be a great event, well supported by the swimmers and a big thank you went to those who sponsored them!
In due course there will be a presentation of the cheque to the RNLI via a former Club Member Laura Brooks who is now a volunteer with the RNLI in Plymouth.
