IF during the coming weeks you see a cyclist in an Alzheimer’s Research jersey pedalling around the area, give him a wave – it might be local man Tony Gale, who has taken up the “Cycling Down Dementia” challenge.

“It’s a cause close to my heart,” says Tony. “Alzheimer’s has touched my family twice in recent years, so I’ve taken up this challenge to raise funding and awareness for Alzheimer’s Research.”

The challenge is to cycle 500km – about 300 miles – during the three months October to December 2021.

“With six weeks to go, I’m actually ahead of schedule,” continues Tony, “but as winter draws in, I would really appreciate as much support as possible to encourage me to meet my distance and funding targets. It would of course be even better if I could smash them both.”

Tony has set up a Just Giving page which is open for donations at: https://cycle.thetreblechallenge.org/pages/cycling-down-dementia1980 .
