WEEKS rush by so quickly at this time of year as another Monday comes around!

The week started with an away game on Monday, July 1 at Exmouth Madeira B.C. four mixed rinks; M.Haywood 29 v 11 E.Flower 27 v 8 G Newbery 14 v 17 J.Martin 28 v 11.

During the evening an Unbadged triples took place with N.Cann, E.Flower and B.Crilly winning through to the next round .

Tuesday, July 2 was the Over 70s Ladies Pairs (where I do believe they should have to show their birth certificates) J.Ayris/D.Hammet lost but C.Rainford/G.Fribbens won.

The green on Tuesday evening was a picture, filled on all rinks bar one with good matches at this time of the season.

A National Mixed four took place I.Bond and Co. lost by seven shots to R.Whitlock and Co.

Two Grater Pairs were also there J.Robbins/P.Milford v J.Heard / K.Phillips. Our lads should never have outbowled them but having led all the way, they lost by one shot in a very exciting game.

Well done John and Phil. A.Gibbs/M.Davies (Crediton) v N.Thomas/M.Welsh (the latter gent had returned from Poole in Dorset, where he has moved to, to complete this game). Our Crediton pair lost to these bowlers so Maeurig will have to travel once more.

L.Reynolds/M.Tapp from Crediton played a pairing from Exonia B.C. and won comfortably.

Wednesday, July 3 was not a good day for A and C Over 60s but the B team was cock-a-hoop with their win: A.Team away to Okehampton lost on both rinks. B team was away to Feniton B.C. and won on both rinks. C team, away to Madeira D, lost on both rinks. D.Grant 10 v 25 R.Fickling 12 v 25. The bowlers obviously stayed on the beach!

A Ladies Over 50s Yellow team game was played at home with J.Ayris and co. 16 v 18 C.Rainford 22 v 19 against Seaton B.C. red.

During the evening another County quarter-finals was taking place with C.Marshall and co. representing Crediton and Section 4 in the Triples. Unfortunately they lost in a close game to J.Barnes and co from Newton Abbot BC.

Thursday, July 4 was Men’s league evening travelling to Okehampton for the next county trophy and league game which they won on all four rinks.

The proposed game between Crediton Ladies NBTL was abandoned as St.Thomas has withdrawn from the league.

Friday, July 5 was an exciting day for Crediton Ladies who travelled to Newquay Trenance B.C. in Cornwall for the next round of the National Top Club.

The day was a scorcher, it probably would have been better for us on the beach! We won one discipline in a very good contest and we wish Newquay Trenance all the best in the rest of the competition. Saturday, July 6 was a trip to Dartmoor for a match against Bovey Tracy B.C. S A.Wollacott 22 v 18 D.Richards 16 v 14 P.Milford 17 v 18 E.Flower 15 v 22 70 – 72 Bovey Tracy.

On Sunday, July 7 the county rinks and triples finals for the Ladies and Senior rinks for the men were played.

T.Newbery and co. attended but were beaten in the first round. Whereas Smerdon and co. have qualified for the National finals in the rinks.

L.Smerdon has already qualified in the two woods so good luck to them all.
