PLANS are being made by The Sandford Syclepaths for the 2024 Sandford Slammer!
The Sandford Slammer is a cycle ride in aid of a number of charities covering two routes, a 59-mile route and a 39-mile route.
Taking place on Sunday, October 6, the monies raised this year will be split equally between several chosen charities and causes.
They are Marie Curie, Hospiscare, Friends of Sandford School, Sandford Scouts, East Village Defib Appeal, Keirs Page and Crediton British Sign Language.
Now in its 8th year The Slammer will once again - if needed - be restricted to a maximum of 200 riders.
Riders of all abilities are encouraged to enter and all types of bikes are allowed, electric, road, gravel, mountain or tandem, you name it, it is allowed.
It is a ride to encourage all to enjoy the love of cycling.
It costs just £20 to enter and there is an abundance of cakes and savoury refreshments at Withleigh Village Hall.
The start is Sandford Cricket Club and the field opens for participants arrival from then. All must have signed in by 8.45am, the 59 mile riders setting off at 9am, the 35-mile riders setting off at 9.15am.
To register, visit: https://paypal.me/ChrisOConnor63?country.x=GB&locale.x=en_GB (via friends and family) (provide name and distance riding along with £20 GBP). The entry fee rises to £25 from September 22.
This is not an official event and as such there is no signage, no mechanical cover and no insurance cover. By signing in and paying a “donation”, riders are of full acceptance of this and ride at their own risk.
