FOUR pupils from Yeoford Primary School took part in the Exeter Primary Maths Challenge at St James’ Secondary School.

The event was open to pupils in Years 5 and 6 and having got through the knockout stages on May 24, Jonny, Hayden, Ella and Elika returned for the final on June 14 when they came third out of the final 10 teams.

Head of School, Mr Peter Halford, was very proud of the children competing well against much larger primary schools. They thoroughly deserved their podium position.

Jonny said he really enjoyed the challenge but was nervous, as is normal with any competition. He enjoyed the difficult questions and was pleased they did so well.

Elika thought it was very challenging and made you think a lot. She particularly enjoyed the mental maths round.
