LOCAL antiques enthusiasts, Trevor Lewis and Pete Ofield recently appeared on the BBC’s Bargain Hunt television programme.
For the programme, which will be shown on BBC1 on Monday, April 10, at 12.15pm, Trevor and Pete, who made up the Red Team competed against two other amateur collectors who made up the Blue Team.
They had £300 to spend in an hour at an antique fair at Westpoint near Exeter and the aim was to find the best bargains and to try to make as much money as possible.
The auction was held at a later date by Whittons Auctioneers & Valuers at Honiton.
Their presenter on the day was Natasha Raskin and they were helped by antiques expert Danny Sebastian, who is new to Bargain Hunt. Gary Pe was the expert for the Blues.
Pete explained: "It was a long day, we started filming at 8am and finished at 7pm.
"The BBC did a lot of filming so they could edit the best bits.
"There were cameras everywhere and when we chose an object to look at we had to pick it up very slowly and they filmed it from all sides.
"There were 10 teams being filmed on the day and the programmes will be shown soon.
"It’s not easy to make money on the show and there were a lot of losses that day!
"Although we didn’t make a profit we did beat the Blue Team and had a thoroughly good day - everyone was very friendly."
