IT'S back. Crediton Museum’s recent “Fire Walk” was a big success, but several people couldn’t make the date – so the Museum is doing it again.

On Friday, August 25, Crediton Museum will present a guided walk through the town, revealing the story of the Great Fire of Crediton in 1743.

The walk will start at the museum – where you can see the Great Fire exhibition – at 7pm.

The walk will take in several different sites around the town centre, pointing out the part each one played in the story of the fire.

“We’ll be looking at snippets from our amazing 1743 map,” says Tony Gale, who will be leading the walk, “and several other images which highlight the impact of this devastating fire. The whole route (out and back) is just under one mile – taking in all the places destroyed, and telling some of the intriguing stories from our research.”

Tony added: “We were a bit overwhelmed with the response last time so we need to restrict numbers for this walk. You’ll need to book in advance to be certain of a place – first come, first served.”

Tickets for the walk cost £5 each, payable on booking.

You can book your place either by emailing: [email protected] (you will receive a reply telling you how to pay) or by calling in at the museum - paying by cash or card – during exhibition opening hours; Wednesday to Friday, 10am to 4pm and Saturday, 11am to 2pm.

Crediton Museum is in the town centre, at the junction of the High Street and Searle Street.
