SOME of you may have seen Carrie Clarke sketching around the village of Cheriton Fitzpaine during the summer.
Using ink and watercolour, Carrie has been drawing and painting some of the beautiful buildings and views, 12 of which she has had printed as postcards.
She originally began doing the drawings with the intention of creating a “pictorial map” of the village, but so many people asked if she would be producing postcards, she decided to go with their suggestion!
The map is an ongoing project.
Carrie said: “The drawings have been a real pleasure to do. I’ve enjoyed many conversations with passers by, hearing about the history of buildings, but also more personal stories of people’s connection to particular places.”
With so many beautiful places in Mid Devon she says there is no shortage of inspiration.
Carrie is enthusiastic about continuing to draw in Cheriton Fitzpaine and surrounding villages.
The postcards are for sale in Cheriton Fitzpaine Community Shop, with all proceeds going to support the shop.
Carrie added: “It’s just a small way of saying thank you to Kevin and the team of volunteers for providing such a great service to the community.”
