• UPDATE: AFTER a total road closure lasting for three hours, the High Street has now re-opened fully. There are no further details about the pedestrian.• CREDITON High Street is currently closed to traffic following a collision between a lorry and a female pedestrian.

The lorry was travelling towards Exeter and the incident happened at about 4.30pm today, Thursday, July 16.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, including Crediton Police, Crediton Co-Responder Firefighters and a land ambulance.

A Devon Air Ambulance also hovered over the scene but it is not yet known if the injured woman was going to be taken to hospital by air ambulance.

The A377 in both directions has been closed in the main Crediton High Street from Market Street to St Saviour’s Way.

Buses and lorries and other traffic is being turned around as directed by police.

The area has been sealed off and it is believed the road will be closed for some time to allow accident investigation to take place.

The injured female was placed onto a stretcher and is currently still in the ambulance at the scene.

It is not known how seriously hurt she is.
