SANDFORD School’s Trim Trail was officially launched during an open afternoon on Wednesday, May 24, in glorious sunshine.

Children showed their families their work and took part in various activities including candle making origami and potting-up plants.

Children from Year 6 sold honey and beekeeper Steve McCulloch was at the bee hives talking to parents and children about bee keeping. He also ran bee themed lessons for the children during the previous week and set up an observation hive on the school field.

Children also played on the sturdy outdoor play equipment, situated in the playground, that forms the Trim Trail.

Head teacher, Lois Baird welcomed everyone to the launch of the Trim Trail, members of the School Council made a speech and Alison Truelove, chair of Friends of Sandford School (FOSS) cut the ribbon to officially launch the trail.

The trail was made possible by Lottery funding and funds raised by FOSS over a number of years with a variety of events - and not just current parents but also past parents contributed.

Co-chairs of Sandford School Governors, Karen Snow and Pam Barnard said: "We are thrilled with the work FOSS have put in to give us a facility the school could never have afforded.

"And it’s very good for the incidental exercise that children need, and all the children can use it."
