MORCHARD Bishop Playing Field Association recently hosted a charity motorcycle gathering with the Widows Sons Association.
Bob Robinson, chairman of Morchard Bishop Playing Field Association said: “Following-on from last year’s successful motorcycle gathering at Morchard Bishop Playing Field, held to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease (MND), we were again delighted to host the Widows Sons Association annual regional rally on the May Bank Holiday weekend.
“Riders representing motorcycle groups from the South East and the Midlands travelled down and camped overnight at the Playing Field on the Friday, making full use of the facilities we offer.
“Originally only a few were scheduled to stay on the Friday night, but given the warm dry weather this number swelled to more than 30!
“On Saturday, when the remainder of the riders were assembled, the group set-off for a ride to Bude Castle.
“Upon their return to the Playing Field, the barbecues were lit, music switched-on and the group enjoyed drinks from our Sports Club Bar.”
Bob added: “We are very pleased that the group has re-booked to use our field for their event next year.”
Funds raised at this year’s event will go to three charities; St Luke’s Hospice in Plymouth, Cadogan Court retirement home in Exeter and North Devon Hospice in Barnstaple.
