Clive Eginton – Conservative
Clive lives in Chawleigh, and has represented Taw Vale ward at Mid Devon District Council since 2003.
The ward from this election now includes Wembworthy and Nymet Rowland parishes.
He helped Chawleigh Parish Council purchase the land from Mid Devon District Council for the Village Store and Post Office and helped Lapford Parish Council purchase the toilet block from Mid Devon District Council for the Orchard Centre.
He was involved in the delivery of affordable housing in Lapford and currently new housing in Chawleigh (with local families having priority).
He campaigned with local residents over the closure of Chawleigh Primary School under a previous Lib Dem administration at County Hall.
Clive has spent his entire life living and working in Mid Devon and now runs an antiques business. Clive’s son attended both Chawleigh and Lapford Primary schools during which time Clive volunteered as a football coach at both schools.
Steve Keable - Liberal Democrat
Steve played a key role in his local community, Lapford, in revitalising the provision of facilities and activities for young people.
“With limited local resources, and a lack of night-time transport and services, young people can be very isolated in rural communities. In the long-term it can lead to them ‘moving away’ which reduces the sense of community. I’m committed to ensuring young people, especially those in rural areas, are not overlooked when it comes to providing council services,” said Steve.
Steve has a career as one of Devon’s leading community development and charity workers.
