A TALK on Aethelred the Unready and the South West of England is coming up in Crediton.

Dr Levi Roach will speak on the subject on Monday, September 9 from 7.30pm at the Boniface Centre following the Crediton Area History and Museum Society’s annual general meeting.

Dr Roach, who is an associate professor at the University of Exeter, has previously written a book about Aethelred the Unready.

Published in 2016, it suggests the monarch has been “wrongly maligned” and presents an “imaginative reassessment” of the Anglo-Saxon king.

Doors open at 7pm for the event.

Entry costs £2 for CAHMS members and £5 for non-members. Membership is £15 a year. Tea, coffee and biscuits are included in admission.

The Boniface Centre can be found on Church Lane in Crediton. There are free car parking spaces at the rear of Crediton Parish Church.

CAHMS will be hosting more talks on the second Monday of each month from September to May.
