A TALENTED Crediton couple will open their studios to enable members of the public to view their impressive art.

Husband and wife Phil and Anne Smith, both former scientists, will welcome visitors from 10am until 6pm each day from tomorrow, Friday, September 20 to Sunday, September 22.

Go along and have a look at the delightful, colourful paintings by Phil, who is an international artist.

His work has sold around the world and recently he has donated 45 paintings to NHS staff, whether they are nurses, porters, doctors, those who helped during Covid or in other capacities.

Recently he said he would be pleased to support some registered charities with paintings.

His paintings have a range of styles and include influences from Morocco, city scapes, “down a microscope”, sunsets and other semi-abstract styles.

He uses strong colours and has a pleasant distinctive style which means you just know it is his work.

Recently he has sold works to Germany, Italy, France, Canada, the USA, South Africa and across the UK.

Anne is admired for her outstanding ceramics, produced in a range of ways.

Her work is functional but beautiful and are all one-off items.

Anne describes her work as functional pottery to sculpture, her most recent work includes smoke fired and raku work.

She would welcome ceramic commissions.

Anne is also an accomplished painter, her work in watercolours or acrylics.

She says she likes nothing more than sitting in her front room in the winter and painting her watercolours, at other times in her studio with her ceramics.

Phil has a dedicated studio and his work and also that of his wife can be viewed in various rooms in their home.

Both admit that there is an environmental influence in all of their works and they also recycle everything, very little going to waste.

You will not want want to miss this opportunity to see their work.

A total of 25 per cent of art sales will go to the Medecins Sans Frontiers and Smile Train charities.

Go along and join them for a coffee or tea. They say you can just browse, there is no need to buy anything.
