THE Reverend Prebendary Nigel Guthrie, his wife Tina and Bill Jerman of Crediton Parish Church together with Rev David Francis (and his labrador, Sam) from Crediton Parish Church team completed a sponsored walk in support of the Devon Historic Churches Trust on Saturday, August 26.

Blessed with almost perfect weather, the route used was the cycle path to Sandford and then via Shakey Bridge to Upton Hellions.

At St Mary’s, Upton Hellions, Nigel took the opportunity to play a few bars on the small organ there.

The route continued via Haske, Little Gutton and Moor Farm to Shobrooke.

At Shobrooke, the bus shelter with its chairs and bench was admired.

A brief stop was taken at Shobrooke Church to view progress on the repairs to part of the churchyard cob wall.

The last section of the walk was through Shobrooke Park and past Lords Meadow Leisure Centre.

To-date more than £200 has been raised of which 50 per cent will be returned to the parish.

If anyone would like to sponsor Nigel, any contribution can be left at the parish office in the Boniface Centre in an envelope clearly marked Rector’s sponsored walk.
