JUNE was a very busy time for Cheriton Fitzpaine Garden Club. We had an amazing Flower Arranging evening organised by Chairman Andrew Dean, Florist Susan Tucker and Ann Nixon.

About 30 ladies and gentlemen came to “have-a-go”, helped by more experienced members. With a bar available, there was a constant buzz of conversation, as people from eight to 80 “had-a-go”.

It is to be hoped that this will encourage more people to either join the Club (subscriptions remain at £15 a year) and/or enter the Open Class at the Summer Show on Saturday, August 18.

We could not have held this evening without the sponsorship and help of Susan’s Flower Shop in Crediton, to whom we are very grateful.

During the evening, we also pictured some of our members sitting on a bench in the Parish Hall Garden. The bench was bought by the Garden Club and dedicated to the memory of past members.

On Saturday, June 23 our Summer Social was held in the beautiful garden at Well Cottage, Upham, created by Charles and Paula Mossman.

The weather was glorious and members were able to enjoy a barbecue, chat or play games.

Our Summer outing will be to Newton St Cyres Arboretum on Thursday, August 2 at 6.30pm. Please contact Paula Mossman if you wish to come.

The Garden Club will be entering a float in the Carnival. It is also holding a Scarecrow competition, which will be judged on July 14. These must be visible from the road.
