THE Friends of Shobrooke Church Harvest Celebration Weekend held at the church of St Swithun’s on Saturday and Sunday, September 17 and 18, raised the sum of £2,194.37.

The event began with the traditional opening service at the Holy Well, which was followed by exhibitions with flowers, crafts, produce, flower, produce, cake, bric-a-brac and books stalls, a silent auction, grand draw, competitions, refreshments and much more.

The event included a Teddy Bear zip-wire ride and rose petal shower.

Those attending were able to sign the Book of Condolence for the Queen during the weekend.

On Sunday, September 18, a special Commemoration Service was held to mark the death of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Proceeds from the Festival are to go towards a fund for maintaining the St Swithun’s Churchyard.

Churchwarden Rosemary Barber said: “I think the sum raised was great, especially in these difficult economic times for so many folk.”
