HUNDREDS of people went along to the Friends of Shobrooke Church Harvest Celebration Weekend held at the church of St Swithun’s on Saturday and Sunday, September 17 and 18.

The event began with the traditional opening service at the Holy Well.

The harvest celebration, in lovely weather, was held in the church and outdoors and in tents in the churchyard.

It included exhibitions with flowers, crafts, produce, flower, produce, cake, bric-a-brac and books stalls, a silent auction, grand draw, competitions, refreshments and much more.

Refreshments were available and at 3pm there was the Teddy Bear zip-wire ride and rose petal shower.

Those attending were able to sign the Book of Condolence for the Queen during the weekend.

On Sunday, September 18, a special Commemoration Service was held to mark the death of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Proceeds from the Festival are to go towards a fund for maintaining the St Swithun’s Churchyard.
