A CREDITON woman, who collects Humanitarian Aid for Ukraine, has received a letter of praise for her charitable efforts from a senior royal.

Heather Sansom, of Redvers House, can often be spotted around the town collecting items and donations.

She wears a fluorescent jacket and on it are pinned some ideas of the type of items she is looking to collect and send.

Heather said: “I have sent thousands of pounds worth of medication and toiletries c/o Joe Bussell who co-drove the return journey of over 3,500 miles to Ukraine three times, sometimes in six inches of snow!

“Any cash donation you may wish to make is spent at Crediton Pharmacy, where the staff point out the best buys and latest offers, etc.”

Toiletries and medical supplies are always welcome and clothing and toys are also on Heather’s list.

Heather added: “The adults and children of Ukraine are forced to cope with the ruthlessness of war.”

“Here in friendly Crediton residents have been accommodating refugees since the war broke out almost three years ago. But the refugees are people who live and study here in safety but their hearts are breaking for the safety of the families left behind.”

Heather told the Courier: “I can accept any unwanted prescription medication (even if it’s out-of-date) and over the counter medication.

“Ukrainian pharmacists will decide on its use.”
