THE parents of children who attend Sandford School experienced a real treat last week when they attended the school’s Harvest Festival which took place at Sandford Parish Hall on Friday, October 4.
On arrival they were greeted with a tea or coffee and a piece of delicious cake that was kindly donated by some of the parents.
Then the real fun began. The children sang various Harvest songs that they had been practicing – “Harvest Tango” and “Thank Your Lucky Stars” being firm favourites.
Each class shared some of their learning with the audience.
Otter class, the youngest children in the school, showed their beautiful apple paintings and sang a song with actions.
Creedy class, Years 1 and 2, explained the lifecycle of an apple. Tavy class, Years 3 and 4, performed a song and created a dance to go with it and Dart class, the oldest children, sang their version of “Let it Go”, which they wrote with the help of AI called “Let it Grow”.
The Harvest Festival was also an opportunity for the children to think about others.
Mrs Fee, Head of School, had asked the children to bring in long life food items that could be donated to the Crediton Food Bank and would like to thank the families of the school for their overwhelming generosity.
She said that the items will be delivered to the food bank in the coming week.
She concluded: “Everyone agreed that the Harvest Festival was a great success and all who attended left with a smile on their face and a spring in their step.”
