SAD news was announced late last night, Tuesday, November 17, that well-known and highly-respected Crediton campaigner Judy Tucker has passed away.
A statement was released on the St Boniface Link page on Facebook which read: "It is with great sadness that we share the news that Judy Tucker died last night.
"We understand she had a brain haemorrhage. We who knew her are all in shock.
"She was a wonderful secretary of the Boniface Link Association, as well as doing a lot for Crediton town and a member of the local support group of Save the Children Fund, as you would have known her too through the Musical Extravaganza.
"She leaves her husband Paul and her son David who of course will be devastated. She was 75.
"We will be very thankful for all she did for the Boniface Link, and with her inspiration, determination, work and enthusiasm, Boniface became the Patron Saint of Devon.
"We will walk past his statue with especial gratitude for what she did towards that.
"Sadly the planned Saint Boniface Day concert was cancelled back in June due to covid restrictions but Judy still managed to organise a special outdoor service by the statue on June 5th. We were so glad it was possible even in this Covid pandemic.
"Judy will be deeply missed by all who knew her and the mission for recognition of Saint Boniface in his home county has grown tenfold thanks to all of her hard work.
"We members of the Boniface Link shall honour Judy’s memory by endeavouring to continue her mission."
Judy was an active member of the Campaign for Local Democracy in Mid Devon, a supporter of CODS, the Crediton Parish Church roof appeal fund and Combat Stress, the veterans’ mental health charity. She was also a member of Crediton Area History and Museum Society.
