AT a recent meeting of Crediton Boniface Rotary, members were joined by Reuben Miles and his wife, Heather.
Reuben has recently retired as a member of the Rotary Club after 31 years.
He was a founder member when the Rotary Club was inaugurated in 1993 and served two periods as their President in
1999-2000 and in 2010-2011 and later became a Paul Harris fellow.
This is the highest award in Rotary which is bestowed on someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the community. President Fred Oliver presented Reuben with a certificate commemorating his long service in Rotary.
Reuben thanked those Rotarians present and said he had thoroughly enjoyed his time as a Rotarian.
He had enjoyed the fellowship over the years and was very proud of the contribution Rotary makes helping the local community.
He also talked briefly of his childhood during the Second World War and how he once sheltered in a cemetery during a bombing raid in Exeter.
Rotarians present thanked him for his contribution to Rotary and wished him and his wife best wishes for the future.
