PEOPLE are being urged to recycle their Christmas trees with Hospiscare to help raise money for the end-of-life charity.
In exchange for a suggested donation of £15, volunteers will collect and recycle trees in the local area on January 9, 10 and 11.
Hospiscare cares for over 2,200 people every year across Exeter, Central and East Devon and relies on public generosity to fund 85 per cent of its services.
Hospiscare Public Fundraising Manager Laura Robertson said: “Choosing to recycle your Christmas tree with Hospiscare benefits everyone involved.
“For our supporters, it’s one less thing to think about after a busy Christmas; for our patients, it raises funds to support them and their families and for the environment, it reduces emissions.
“Last January, our volunteers collected 2,069 trees and recycling these resulted in a 33,104kg CO2e emission saving.
“We are working in partnership with JustHelping who are once again supporting our hospice to raise essential funds and contribute to our community and the environment.”
Hi-Line Tree Management and Consultancy is sponsoring this year’s Christmas tree recycling campaign.
Director Benjamin Smith said: “Join us this Christmas as we embrace the spirit of giving, recycling and work with Hospiscare to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
“Working together, we can help Hospiscare continue its vital work, bringing comfort and support to those who need it most."
Volunteers will collect trees from the following postcodes: EX1, EX2, EX3, EX4, EX5 2, EX5 3, EX5 4, EX5 5, EX5 7, EX6 7, EX6 8, EX8, EX10, EX11 1, EX14 1, EX14 2, EX14 3, EX15 1 EX16 4, EX16 5, EX16 6 and EX17.
