BRAVE souls can now raise money for their favourite local charities by walking on hot coals at Crediton and District Lions Club’s upcoming “fire walk” in the Town Square.

Fundraising had initially been limited to the club’s charity fund.

“Crediton Lions support many local charities and have now made some places available for walkers in support of their favourite local charities,” a spokesperson said.

“Suggested charities in addition to Lions that could benefit are Crediton Foodbank, Exeter Leukaemia Fund, FORCE, Devon Air Ambulance or any registered charity operating locally. The choice is yours.

“Not much time left now. It's time to turn up the heat, break through barriers, and show the world what you're made of.

“Take the first step toward a memorable experience that transcends boundaries – sign up for the fire walk challenge today!

“Book your place while there is still time to gain sponsorship for your favourite cause.”

Many have already signed up and are gathering sponsors ahead of the event, which will take place on Saturday, October 5 from 7pm to 9pm.

“I am looking forward to the walk, having walked the town for support, it’s my turn to give back by doing the fire walk,” participant Sheila Whitehead said.

“It can’t come too soon, roll on October 5.”

Twenty-six-year-old Lewis Roberts from Chudleigh said: “I am up for the challenge, never done anything like this before. Great work Crediton Lions.

“My JustGiving page is working well, should get to my target this week but I am not stopping there.”

You must be aged 14 or over to take part. Participants will be trained by Scott Bell of UK Firewalk beforehand from 6pm on the day.

“We are thrilled to bring this unique event to Crediton,” Mr Bell said.

“Firewalking is a powerful experience that challenges perceptions and unlocks untapped potential.

“It's about pushing boundaries and discovering what's possible when we confront our fears head-on.”

Entry costs £25 to help Crediton Lions Club cover the cost of organising the event.

All funds must be raised through the Lions Club which will collate them before passing the money on to nominated charities.

If you would like to take part, you can register online by visiting: shorturl.at/23Hm5

If you have any difficulty registering, you can book directly by emailing Crediton Lions Club [email protected] with subject “fire walk” and your name, or by telephoning 01363 773437.

If you are walking for a charity other than the Lions Club, email which organisation you are supporting to the above address.

Certificates will be provided on completion of the walk. Special t-shirts are also available at a cost of £10 but can be obtained free of charge if you raise over £150 including the registration fee.

There will be a prize for the highest individual sponsorship achieved.

After the fire walk, when all the funds have been collected, participants will also be invited to a special donations evening to be held for all the charities involved.
