PEOPLE can now sign up for Hospiscare’s yearly Men’s Walk fundraiser.
The seven-mile walk will start and finish at Exeter’s Double Locks pub on Saturday, March 15. Participants can enjoy a pint and a pasty and watch the Wales vs England Six Nations match on their return.
The walk can also be done “Your Way”, that is, choosing your own route and location.
Hospiscare looks after more than 2,200 patients every year in Exeter, Mid and East Devon. It gets just 15 per cent of its funding from the government.
The Men’s Walk event has raised as much as £935,000 for the local end-of-life charity over the past 13 years.
This year, Hospiscare hopes it can push this figure beyond £1 million.
“Men’s Walk holds a special place in so many hearts,” Hospiscare Senior Events Fundraiser Martin Stokke said.
“It’s a chance for friends to reunite, for grandfathers to share meaningful moments with their children and grandchildren, and for everyone to make a real difference to a cause that helps so many.
“This year, we’ll walk in honour of those who have walked before us and in memory of those no longer with us.
“Together, we can reach the incredible milestone of £1 million for Hospiscare.”
The Men’s Walk has previously sold out four years in a row. You can sign up by visiting: hospiscare.co.uk/events/mens-walk.
People who register by midnight on Sunday, February 2 will be in with a chance of winning dinner and drinks for two (worth £80) at the Double Locks pub.
Hospiscare has four sites: Searle House in Exeter, Kings House in Honiton, Pine Lodge in Tiverton and High View in Exmouth.
The charity also provides care in patients’ homes and community settings, with nursing teams across the region.
