AS part of the BTEC Sport and Outdoor Education course at Queen Elizabeth’s School, in Crediton a group of sixth form students travelled to visit the Dartmoor Rangers who work maintaining Dartmoor National Park.

After spending some time learning about the role of the Rangers and the National Park at the Princetown Centre, the group ventured out onto Dartmoor to assess a few footpaths and carry out maintenance on the paths that were in the worst condition.

The main path they focussed their efforts on was the Nun’s Cross track which is in the process of being improved by the authority.

This particular track holds special importance to the PE and Outdoor Education Department at QE as it is one of the tracks they regularly use for mountain biking on Dartmoor.

The group said that it was nice to give back to the national park, to improve an area that they use regularly. They send their thanks to Pete who was their Ranger for the day!
