SCORES of primary school pupils in the local area have made “peace posters” for Crediton and District Lions Club’s heat in the Lions Clubs International Peace Poster competition this summer.

The yearly competition encourages schoolchildren to use their artistic skills to draw what world peace means to them. 

In the Crediton area, there were more than 100 entries from Copplestone Primary School, Hayward’s Primary School and Landscore Primary School.

Organiser of the competition for the Crediton and District Lions Club Eric Parkes said he was very impressed by each entry and thanked the three schools and the teachers for allowing their pupils to take part in this year’s competition. The hard work and encouragement shown by the teachers involved was very noticeable, he added.

The winner from Landscore Primary School was Sophie Trenaman, and the runner-up Emilia Zieleniewski.

The winner from Copplestone Primary School was Mykola Samoilenko, and the runner-up Toby Camp.

The joint winners from Hayward’s Primary School were Lucy David and Amelia Jackson, and the runner-up Daisy Green.

The winning posters will now be sent through to the regional stage of the international competition.
