CREDITON golfer, Andy Bridgeman has completed a solo 24 hour golf marathon to raise money for charity.

Andy, club manager of Fingle Glen golf club has been playing golf for about 10 years.

He decided to do the 24 hour golf marathon to raise money for Rainbow Living, a charity based in Exeter for young people with disability.

The aim of the charity is to provide supported living accommodation and to allow the young people the choice of where and with whom they live, allowing them to live relatively independently.

Andy explained: "I decided to start the marathon on Wednesday, April 1 at 7pm finishing on Thursday, April, 2 at 7pm to coincide with the start of the golf year on April, 1.

He added: "It was pretty difficult especially playing through the night. I had to use night balls (a special ball with a hole in where a glow stick is inserted to make the ball visible) and there were lights on the flags and tees."

"A social evening was arranged on the Thursday evening and there was always someone with me on the course as each round, putt and bunker had to be recorded."

During the 24 hour period Andy completed seven and a half rounds, covered about 38 miles and raised £1,300 for the charity.
