YOUNG people from Queen Elizabeth’s School in Crediton and Morchard Bishop Church of England Primary School excelled at producing winning entries in the Rotary Club of Crediton Boniface Young Photographer of the Year competition.
The young people, in age categories, were required to enter three photographs each on the theme of “The Beauty of Nature”.
Judges were Peter Budd from Crediton Photography Club and Phil Mingo from Pinnacle Photo Agency.
There were dozens of entries in each age category and the winners each received a £25 voucher.
The winning entries also go through to the regional round of the competition and national round if selected.
All those who took part received a certificate and Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Crediton Boniface visited each school to present awards.
The judges said that a lot of thought had gone into the entries and added that many of them were eye-catching.
From QE, Emilia Partridge won the Senior Category winning a £25 voucher and goes through to the regional finals!
Tamlin Flower achieved third in the Senior Category with three students, Libby Harris, Serene Fenson and Sophie Osborne achieving Highly Commended in the Senior Category.
In the Junior Category, first was Ruth Stephenson from Morchard Bishop CE Primary, and also from the school, Jack Williams was second and Rhiannon Griffiths was third.
In the Senior Category Sarah-Jayne Sargeant from Exeter College was second.
When he presented certificates to the Morchard Bishop CE Primary School young photographers, Roger Pennington told the pupils that the judges had said some of the juniors had shown that their skills were as good as the seniors.
