THE children’s paddling pools at Westexe Park in Tiverton and Newcombes Meadow in Crediton will be open once again, from tomorrow, Friday, May 26.
Mid Devon District Council appreciates how popular the facilities are for local families and is keen for residents to be able to make the most of the sunshine and enjoy hours of fun outside this half-term.
Maintenance work has been carried out on both pools over the off-season to freshen them up ready for this season and council staff will be checking the pools for water quality and safety throughout the opening times.
Lee Chester, Mid Devon District Council’s Operations Manager for Leisure Services, said: “We know both of these pools are much-loved assets for the local community and especially popular when we have warm weather.
“It is great to see them used so much and we look forward to welcoming children and their families back to the water, especially as the sun has made a welcome appearance in time for half-term!”
Mid Devon District Council asks visitors to respect the facility and other users whilst taking responsibility for their belongings and any waste, in order to support it in the running of the two pools.
It also asks visitors to report any acts of vandalism or damage to the council as soon as possible.
It said: “Please also remember that staff will be working above and beyond their normal role in order to keep these paddling pools open and safe for all to enjoy.
“If you happen to see them opening or closing the pools, please treat them with respect as without their help it wouldn't be possible for the pools to remain open.
“In order to help maintain the water quality please ensure that food or drink is not taken into the pools, swim aids or toys are clean and free from debris and visitors go to the toilet and ideally shower before they arrive.”
If you have any urgent concerns about the pools, please contact Mid Devon Leisure on 01884 255255 or email: [email protected] .
The pools will be open between 10am to 6pm until the end of the school summer holidays. The last day of pool opening is Sunday, September 10.
