DEVON and Cornwall Police warn that there has been a recent increase in telephone scams with the caller reporting to be a member of the police.
A spokesperson said: “The caller requests a substantial amount of money to be withdrawn and tries to obtain details of personal/banking details.
“This is a reminder not to pass out your personal information over the phone and that your bank will not ask for your account number or passwords.
“If you do experience similar incidents please report to police via 101 or online. This can also be reported to Action Fraud using the following link: Action Fraud (https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/ ) or using telephone number 0300 123 2040.”
