IF PLANS to build houses on 0.91 hectares of land behind a bungalow at Lapford are approved, a footpath could be provided to connect with what is already there, leading to the village school almost opposite the site.
In a revised scheme, Mr Ken Harrison is asking for outline planning for 14 dwellings behind Sandhurst. These would be two, three and four bedroomed market housing properties including self-build, affordable and custom build housing.
So far two objections had been received by Mid Devon District Council saying that the site was too close to the primary school and there had been too many near misses with traffic when children were walking to and from the school.
Over the past five years no accidents involving traffic had been recorded on that part of Eastington Lane. Steve Woods Consultants, in the transportation statement, said it was expected that the new dwellings would generate very little traffic.
In his statement to the council, Mr Harrison said the site was south facing, so solar panels would have access to natural light, houses would have sunlight from early morning until dusk.
He said the buildings would be of a size to allow a plant room to contain batteries to store solar power, electric car charger points would be included and the plots were big enough to allow rain water collection and geothermal methods to be implemented.
