CREDITON could soon have a McDonald’s restaurant and drive-thru if Mid Devon planners approve a plan submitted to the authority this week.
The restaurant and drive-thru, with two grill bays, would be built on land at NGR 284600 099535, Joseph Locke Way, Crediton, EX17 3FD.
The restaurant would be located on the corner of the A377 roundabout and Joseph Locke Way, between the Mole Avon store.
The proposed development comprises of a modern freestanding single storey building.
The 76-customer seating restaurant will have an internal floor space of 356 metres and would be expected to provide employment for 30 full-time staff and 90 part-time staff.
The plan also includes car parking for 38 cars (two of which are accessible bays), 10 cycles, landscaping and associated works.
There would be two electric vehicle charging points.
Planning is also submitted for consent for advertising fascia signs, three booth lettering signs, one digital booth screen, all illuminated and other signage including four illuminated freestanding signs, two illuminated banner units and 20 DOT (traffic control) signs.
Statements regarding litter, anti-social behaviour, external lighting, air quality, odour, noise, drainage, site ecology, biodiversity, etc are submitted with the planning documents.
These can be viewed on the planning portal via the Mid Devon District Council website: www.middevon.gov.uk .
McDonalds says that the plan represents a multi-million-pound investment by a national operator in Crediton.
