A NUMBER of pigeons have been shot in Newton Abbot and police are appealing for information.
Police were called to reports of a number of pigeons being shot with an air rifle in King Street, Newton Abbot, at around 9.10pm on Saturday, July 16.
A police spokesperson said: ‘Officers attended the scene and inquiries are continuing.
‘If you witnessed the incident or have any information that could help the police with their inquiries, please email [email protected] or call 101, quoting crime reference CR/063906/22.’
The RSPCA has been informed and will be investigating.
Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (Chapter 69) it is illegal to harm or kill wild birds, such as pigeons and seagulls, unless an individual adheres to certain licences.
