THE Voskresenije (Resurrection) Choir of St Petersburg gave an outstanding performance to an appreciative audience at Crediton Parish Church on Saturday, October 6.
The event, raised £366 for Crediton Parish Church Endowment Fund.
The vocal ensemble, which was founded by conductor Jurii Maruk in 1993, consisted of eight professional vocalists, four male and four female.
The first half concentrated on Russian sacred music including Ava Maria and Panis Angelicus. The second half featured a series of Russian folk songs with solo performances. One of the favourites was by basso profundo, Anatolii Artamonov, who gave an entertaining rendition of "Old Bush Song" (Down, deep within the cellar).
