MANY people will be taking part in the Devon Historic Churches Ride and Stride Day on Saturday, September 14, none more so than congregation members from Beacon Church - New Buildings, St Swithun’s Church - Sandford and St Mary’s Church - Upton Hellions.

Jean Hope from Sandford explained: “We are encouraging folk to walk, cycle, jog, ride or whatever from one of the churches in the parish to another, take selfies and post, and estimate the miles covered so we can travel 100 miles for DHCT.

“We are asking for donations of at least a £1 a mile.”

An Open Day will take place at St Swithun’s Church from 10am to 4pm and there will be refreshments and children’s activities all day.

Jean said that the Open Day will be a good opportunity to see the detailed plans for the Sandford Community Churchyard Path.

The children’s activities include ringing the hand bells, rubbings, puzzles, I-spy trails, jigsaws etc.
