PROGRESS in delivering new outpatient services at Okehampton Hospital is “not good enough” according to the town’s Member of Parliament Mel Stride who spoke with the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust Chief Executive Suzanne Evans and Integration Director Adel Jones on Friday, May 25.

When the decision to remove the inpatient beds at the hospital was taken last year, the Northern, Eastern and Western Devon Clinical Commissioning Group (NEW Devon CCG) made a commitment to keep the hospital open and use it to deliver a variety of outpatient services.

But according to the Central Devon MP the lack of a timescale for the delivery of these new services from the RD and E is causing concern.

Mr Stride said: “The conversation I had with the Chief Executive was very direct – I made it clear that the lack of progress in bringing forward a plan for the new outpatient services at Okehampton Hospital is very disappointing.

“Residents in and around Okehampton deserve a firm timeline for the delivery of services. Some services have been provided but the progress originally promised during a meeting I called in November last year has not materialised.”
