A SET of two-way traffic lights placed on the A377 near Crediton at the scene of a landslip look set to be in place for some time.
The landslip occurred on the edge of Crediton between Queen Elizabeth Drive and Barnstaple Cross on Thursday, January 4, a large amount of the hedgerow falling into one lane of the highway.
Police and Devon County Council Highways representatives attended and temporary traffic lights were erected to maintain traffic in one direction at a time.
While the earth has been removed from the road, it is not believed that the situation will be resolved quickly.
On Tuesday, January 9, a Devon County Council spokesperson said: “The temporary traffic lights are in place as a safety precaution to protect the public.
“Due to the geological makeup of the area, the lights will be required to remain in place until further investigations have been carried out.”
