A NEW live show for ages seven and up exploring the folklore behind Scooby-Doo is coming up in Crediton.

Tickets cost £3 for Zoinks! The Spooky Folklore Behind Scooby Doo, which will take place at Crediton Library on Friday, November 8 from 7.30pm.

Author Mark Norman, who has just published a new book of the same name, will speak about the myths, legends and monsters in the 55-year-old franchise.

Mr Norman, who is also creator of the Folklore Podcast, interviewed many writers and creators of the original show for the book.

“Despite having such a massive catalogue of material, there has never been a serious study into the make-up of Scooby-Doo,” he said.

"Was Scooby really named after a Frank Sinatra song? Is ‘jinkies’ a real word? You can find out the answers to these questions and many more.

“Expect fun, comedy and entertainment... followed by Scooby Snacks.”
